The Sri Lanka cricket selectors have announced a well-balanced 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka. Dasun Shanaka has been named captain for the tournament and will lead a home side packed with versatile batters, quality all-rounders and a strong bowling attack.
Pathum Nissanka and Pavan Rathnayake provide solidity at the top of Sri Lanka’s batting order. The all-round core is led by Dasun Shanaka (Captain), whose leadership and batting all-round skills are central to the side, supported by the versatile Kamindu Mendis, the dynamic Charith Asalanka, and Janith Liyanage. The bowling all-round strength comes from Wanindu Hasaranga and Dunith Wellalage, adding balance in both departments. The wicket-keeping options include Kamil Mishara, Kusal Mendis, and Kusal Perera, all capable of contributing with the bat. Sri Lanka’s bowling attack is rounded out by the spin of Maheesh Theekshana and the pace trio of Dushmantha Chameera, Matheesha Pathirana, and Eshan Malinga, giving the side depth and variety.
